The Youth skills & Leadership development program is designed to offer participants an opportunity to develop their community building, leadership, people, and management skills. We aim to equip participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge they will need to be successful on board as Youth Leaders.

The Winter Leadership & Skills Development Program is a fun and rewarding program for youth interested in learning more about sailing, making new friends, improving their leadership & teamwork skills, and becoming crew members aboard the St. Lawrence II.

We work with participants to help them learn and grow through a series of hands-on activities, classroom exercises, and sailing ship preservation and maintenance, using observation, outreach, and online quizzes to support individual progression.  We aren’t interested in passing or failing, we are interested in supportive learning and growth, and working with participants to help them to realize their potential.

Involvement with the Leadership & Development program is a fun and rewarding way to meet friends, have an amazing time, gain new skills and abilities, and to sail on the Tall Ship for free!

Participants who graduate from the program will receive:

  • T.S.E.C. Level 2 Sailor Certificate

  • T.S.E.C. Leadership Certificate
